Hey there, campers and food lovers! Today, we’re stepping into the heart of every RV. The place where delicious memories are cooked up and shared – the kitchen on wheels. Having the right RV kitchen essentials can turn your mobile haven into a culinary paradise. You never want to be halfway through a recipe only to find you don’t have everything you need. Believe me, I’ve been there!
Whether you’re cooking inside or outside you’ll want to be sure you have all the necessary RV kitchen essentials. These tools and gadgets will have you creating gourmet magic even while camping in the wilderness. Anybody who has camped in an RV before can agree on one thing. Space is limited! So it’s important to really only pack the absolute essentials. Get ready to be rollin’ in flavor, my friends!
Coffee Station
Is there anything better than waking up and sipping a hot cup of coffee outside on a camping trip? Not that I can think of! These coffee station items will keep your RV well stocked for a smooth morning.
- Keurig K-Slim: Counter space in an RV is limited, so this super slim Keurig is the perfect coffee maker for the tight space. It takes up minimal counter top and is easy to use and clean.
- The water reservoir holds enough for multiple cups of coffee so you don’t have to refill it after every use.
- Single serving K-pods allow for everyone to pick their own type of coffee.
- We keep ours on the counter for our whole trip and just push it to one side when not in use.
- Camping Mugs: No matter what precautions you take things will get knocked around while traveling in an RV. Get a few camping mugs that are enamel and won’t break easily to keep in your RV.
- Our exact style is no longer made but these are just as cute!
Cooking Essentials
No RV kitchen essentials list would be complete without cooking essentials! Having a set of cookware and tools that you specifically keep in your RV will help you stay organized. No packing and unpacking for every trip, and no forgetting that crucial pot or pan you need for your dinner.
- Blackstone Griddle: If you buy ANYTHING for your camper it should be this Blackstone Griddle. We do almost all of our cooking outside on this.
- This small size is perfect to easily store in your passthrough.
- It’s perfect for morning eggs & bacon, burgers, and stir fry!
- If your camper has a quick connect gas line you can purchase this adaptor to power the grill instead of purchasing butane canisters
- Cast Iron Skillet: Whether you’re cooking on an inside burner or outside over a fire a cast iron skillet is the way to go. It will distribute heat so your food cooks evenly and makes for a great sear.
- We have this Lodge Skillet in both our RV and our home, it just gets better with time!
- Non Stick Skillet: While a cast iron skillet is great for most things, it may not cover all your bases. Keep a non stick skillet in your RV will come in handy for things like eggs.
- Grill Brush: To keep your griddle in shape you’ll want to buy a grill brush for easy cleaning.
- Utensil Kit: You never know what you might feel like cooking while camping. Be prepared by keeping a utensil kit like this in your RV. It has just about everything you could ever need!
Dishes
Similar to the coffee mugs we talked about for a coffee station you want to think about durability for your daily dishes. Most of your meals will be eaten outside, and there is also a lot of going back and forth from your RV kitchen to the picnic table!
- Melamine Dish Set: Melamine is a classic pick for durability and it is also very lightweight! It won’t easily chip when traveling and is easy to clean.
- This set comes in several trendy colors and has enough pieces that you aren’t constantly washing dishes.
- Wine Glasses: If you love a nice glass of Rose in the summer like I do you will also want a set of durable wine glasses! These are a thick plastic and have RV themed designs.
- Silverware: Keep a set of utensils specifically for your RV kitchen so you’ll never be without them
- Silverware Caddy: Like I mentioned you will constantly be walking from your RV kitchen, outside, and back. Grab a utensil Caddy to make things easy!
- This bamboo caddy looks great on the table and also stays closed so you can store your utensils in it while traveling.
- Storage Containers: One of the hardest things in RV travel is keeping your kitchen essentials organized.
- I use these collapsable storage containers to keep everything in it’s place.
- They fit easily into cabinets to hold your plates, utensils, spices etc.
- Drying Rack: Grab a drying rack like this one that can easily collapse when not in use. It fits right on the counter when you need to wash dishes!
Prep Tools
If you’re going to be cooking up a storm in your RV you’ll need the right prep tools! These RV kitchen essentials will help to make prep a breeze, despite the small space.
- Collapsible Cutting Board: This collapsible cutting board is probably my favorite RV kitchen item!
- It functions as a cutting board, but can also pop up to be used as a colander and storage.
- It comes with several attachments if you need to slice or grate veggies and cheese.
- Collapsible Tupperware: Since storage space is always limited, use these collapsible Tupperware for leftovers to save space.
- Spice Storage: Instead of dealing with multiple bottles for your spices but them in these travel containers. You can keep them in the RV all season without taking up too much space!
Other Notable Items
There are a few RV kitchen essentials that don’t quite fit into these categories – but we can’t camp without!
- Collapsible Garbage Bin: This collapsible garbage bin fits easily under our sink, and is also lightweight. We can pop it down when empty, and also easily carry it inside and outside.
- Paper Towel Rod: Paper towels are an essential for quick RV clean up. This rod hooks over a cabinet door so it doesn’t take up any counter space.
- Roasting Sticks: Whether you’re roasting marshmallows or hot dogs a camping trip isn’t complete without roasting something over the fire! These reusable sticks make sure you don’t lose your food to the fire, and clean up is easy.
As we wrap up our exploration of RV kitchen essentials, it’s clear that creating a culinary haven on wheels is definitely possible. From compact cookware to ingenious storage solutions, our RV kitchens can be a hub of creativity and flavor. You’ll notice a theme of maximizing your space, and anything collapsable is your friend!
Remember, it’s not about the size of the kitchen but the love and passion you infuse into your meals. So, whether you’re sizzling up breakfast with a view of the sunrise or crafting a cozy dinner under the stars. May your RV kitchen be a place where every meal becomes a cherished part of your adventurous journey.
