Lake George RV Park: Genuine Rave Review!

Hello my fellow camping enthusiasts and weekend warriors! If you’re located in New England like me you’re always looking for a campground that isn’t too far of a drive but still feels like you’re getting away. This fall when a hurricane botched our original plans to head to Maine we were in a scramble to find another campground to visit for a long weekend. We were looking for a quiet, “New England Fall” location that was close to breweries we could visit. Lake George RV Park fit the bill and we could not have enjoyed our trip more. Bonus, it ended up being our dog Mookie’s favorite RV park too – you’ll see why!

The Campground

Lake George RV Park is nestled in the Saratoga County area of the Adirondacks. This campground is the perfect blend of nature, relaxation, and a touch of adventure. Even though this large campground has about 400 sites it still feels very private. It is highly wooded, which gives the campground that special, beautiful feeling of being immersed in the forest. The days are peaceful and nights are full of quiet relaxation.

Most of the campsites are filled with gravel. This made for a cleaner campsite, and less dirt tracked inside. It also made the site relatively level and easy to even out the RV. You can view the campground map on Lake George RV Park’s website here. They do not allow you to book one particular site, and advise you let them set you up in a site suitable for your RV. You can however request a certain site if you are very familiar with the park.

When we stayed we set up in the West area, which is a distance from the amenities sections and very private. We did plenty of walking around though and all sections seemed like they had great options available! All RV sites had full hookups, wifi and cable access. The only downside to the sites was there were a lot of acorns falling from the trees above. This is likely limited to the fall season though!

While we didn’t get to go inside, Lake George RV Park also offers rentable cabins and trailers if you don’t have your own. Renting one of these would be a great way to test out if RV camping is right for you. They would also be great if you have friends or family who want to tag along on your trip to Lake George, but don’t have their own camper.

The Amenities

As I mentioned earlier, Lake George RV Park is a resort style campground. That means exactly what it sounds like . The campground is full of amazing amenities that make you feel like you are truly on vacation! All areas of the common spaces are beautifully landscaped with large flower pots. Kids can play in on several playgrounds throughout the campsites. In addition there is an outdoor splash pad for those hot summer days! They have not one, but two outdoor pools and one heated indoor pool. We spent a lot of time in the outdoor spa which was perfect for unwinding after a long day of hiking.

The list of amenities doesn’t stop there! During peak summer months Lake George RV Park puts on regularly scheduled entertainment likes plays and bingo. They also have an on site movie theatre where you can watch flicks through the summer months! Before heading to the movie you can grab dinner or ice cream at the on site cafe. Kids can have a ball at one of two arcades on the campground while parents get some exercise at the nearby pickle ball courts. We took full advantage of the general store for come cute and comfy merch. And also scheduled a fire wood delivery right to our campsite! One of the other great services is a trolley that will take you to other parts of the campground, or even to downtown shopping.

Rounding out the amenities at Lake George RV Park are some beautiful opportunities to enjoy nature. The campground boasts two picturesque ponds. One is for fishing, stocked with Largemouth Bass and private for campers. Fishing equipment is available to rent if you don’t have your own! The other pond is specifically for Paddle Boating! This service is free to campers and operates most days during the summer season. The paths between these ponds are scenic and a great daily walk. If you’re up for it you can even head out on the French Mountain Hiking Trail which leads to breathtaking views of the Adirondacks.

Charlie’s Bark Park

In the beginning of this post I told you that Lake George RV Park was my dog Mookie’s favorite…and here’s why! This is the only RV park we’ve been to so far that has 2 whole acres dedicated to dogs! Charlie’s Bark Park is beautifully landscaped and entirely fenced in. There are separate sections for large and small dogs, both with double gated enclosures for extra safety. Some of the park is wooded with agility obstacles to play on. The other part is well kept turf for wide open running!

Mookie spent hours running around the dog park. Since we were visiting in the fall and the campground was not as busy there were a handful of times we had the whole dog park to ourselves! We loved that there were several water stations to keep Mookie hydrated throughout his playtime. Like human water fountains but low enough for dogs! Have you ever seen a doggy vending machine? The Bark Park has one! Stocked full of tennis balls, treats, bandanas, and even soap in case you forgot anything! (For a pro list of what to pack for your Pet’s RV trip check out our post on Pet Essentials). When you’re done playing, take a bath in the convenient raised pet washing station! Truly a pet parent’s campground dreams come true!

Remembering the wonders of Lake George RV Park, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia for the pine-scented air, the tranquility of the lakes, and quiet nights spent around the campfire. Lake George RV Park isn’t just a campground; it’s a camping vacation that you must be experience to believe. Whether you’re local to New England, or looking to experience the quintessential Adirondacks feel this is a must add to your camping list. If you’re looking for a few things to experience in the area follow us as we spend a day in nearby Saratoga Spring. Happy travels, my friends!
